March 21, 2018: The Start

My name is Tina and I have decided to embark on a new healthy life. I have struggled with my weight since 2003; that includes losing and regaining. At my highest weight I weighed 197lbs and that was my wake-up call. Stepping on the scale and seeing that number made me “officially” feel fat. I considered myself thick or chunky but the thought of being in the fat range was actually enough for me to get serious and consistent.

So, in 2013 I began walking. I walked for about 2 months and then I joined a gym. It took about 6 months for me to get down to 167lbs. During this time, I was eating “somewhat” healthy. “Somewhat” meant I was cooking more than eating fast-food every day and I was watching my sugar intake.  I was going to the gym 6 days a week and I loved it. I’m in the small percentage of people who love to work out but have a hard time controlling their eating habits. I can workout 3 times a day if time permits but controlling what I put into my mouth has been a struggle.

In 2017 I re-entered the trucking industry. And trying to maintain a workout routine and eating healthy is hell on a tractor-trailer. I threw everything healthy out the window of my truck and stuffed my face with burgers and fries. I decided to stop driving because I simply didn’t like the lifestyle anymore. In August of 2017 I got home, got on the scale and 190lbs stared at me and I stared back…blankly. All I could think was “what the hell?”, I immediately went back to the gym.  I lost 10 pounds by January of 2018. I wasn’t fully committed and my diet wasn’t perfect but I was consistent.

Now here we are in March of 2018 and I want to make this a lifestyle for me. Yes, I want to lose fat, but most importantly I want to have mental clarity and energy. I have tried many diets since 2003 and what I have found that actually works is a low carb way of eating. I love helping people, so I have decided to chronicle not only my fat-loss journey, but also my health-gain journey.  Thank you for jogging with me through this journey.  – side-note: I love jogging. 😊
